Exploring WattPad, Poetry and a new unique writing project

It has been a busy few weeks juggling many things, from touring in Ireland and playing some hockey to embarking on the last part of my MA in Creative Writing and Publishing.

WattPad

I dabbled on Wattpad to practise writing and build an audience for my book Abysmal Octogenarians. You can see from the rankings below that so far, it isn’t doing too badly:

Wattpad is a social media service where writers and readers can share stories, comment on stories, add profile comments and send and receive private messages to one another. And best of all it is free to use for readers and writers. What’s not to love!

If you haven’t tried it yet, click this link https://www.wattpad.com/story/368730416-abysmal-octogenarians?utm_source=web&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share_myworks.

Every Friday at 7pm, I publish a new chapter.

If you have a better title, please share it with me.

My muse for this piece has just arrived home from a trip to Japan, so I am sure I will have lots of new content to add to it in the coming weeks.

Dissertation

Last summer, I wrote a piece called CallMac. It is a unique piece of writing that I like to think of as an updated Adrian Mole meets Bridget Jones. I am using this piece for the last part of my degree. After three rewrites, it is now shaping up nicely. My goal is to have this published and available to you all by Christmas. We renamed it CacheDogie, so it doesn’t sound too similar to a Scottish ferry company. I will reveal the reason for this closer to the release.

Poetry

About thirty years ago, when I did my degree in Communication, I wrote three poems that were published in the university anthology. I will have another piece of mine published in a university publication called Brown Boots. My ninety-one-year-old stepdad, who has become a part of our family, inspired it. I will post it here as a video on Father’s Day for you to enjoy.
