Encouraging children with autism and their parents to have fun with the hard stuff

Author Visit and updates

Author Visit

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a local school to speak with Year 9 students about my journey as an author. My left leg shook uncontrollably on the journey there but I was warmly welcomed. I felt honoured to be able to speak to the students and was given a thank you card and a beautiful bouquet of flowers when I left. Sharing the story of how I became an author and my passion for writing was nerve wracking but fun, and I was delighted to see the students so engaged. One student even handed me a story to take away and critque!

In other news

I am thrilled to announce that I have completed my MA in Creative Writing. My final project, which will be published later this year, is a story inspired by Mary Shelley’s creation of the monster in Frankenstein. Writing this project has been a fantastic journey, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. I hope to now embark on a PhD in Creative Writing focusing on Large Language Models and the power they will bring to creating engaging narratives for children on the autistic spectrum. It’ll keep me out of trouble for a few years!

WattPad

I hope you have all been enjoying the have the ongoing story on WattPad Abyssmal Octogenarians.

I’ve been attempting to add to it each week (Friday’s at 7.00 pm) However, it still needs a better name, and I would love your input. Please check the story out and share your suggestions in the comments below. Oh and give it a like or a thumbs up on WattPad for me, that always means a lot. It can’t be all that bad as it is sitting around in the elderly category today. ITS FREE so what is there to lose.

Finally

My next children’s book is now being illustrated and I will share more on this with you all next month but for now I hope you like the first draft picture of the main character Argonaut who most of you will recognise as my Gordon Setter – Rufus aka Doofus.
