It has been a little while since my last update, so this felt like a good moment to share what I’ve been working on ready for the festivities that will soon be upon us.
Two free Kindle books
I currently have two children’s books available as free Kindle downloads, for a limited time.
The first is Mr Squarehead, who moves to the area, a brand-new release and the start of a series of maths-based stories for children aged 4–6. Mr Squarehead has just moved into a very round neighbourhood, and his arrival sparks questions about shape, difference, and how we make sense of the world around us. The series is designed to introduce early maths ideas through story, character, and a bit of silly humour.
The second is Spin Cycle Squad Christmas, a festive story featuring the washing-machine characters Washie and Warmie. It is a warm, playful Christmas tale about teamwork, routine, and navigating seasonal excitement, perfect for a cosy December read.
A quick PhD update
On the research side, my PhD has made some really positive progress this term. I am now well into the practical phase of the work, collaborating with families to explore how personalised, co-created stories can support autistic children’s engagement and enjoyment.
At the beginning of December, I had the opportunity to present my research at a Bournemouth University conference, which was a valuable chance to share the project, reflect on how it has evolved, and connect with others.
Finally
I also want to apologise for the long gap between updates. This year has been full, in the best and busiest sense, and I appreciate everyone who continues to read, share, and support my work.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas break and all the best for the new year and I will make it a resolution not to leave the next blog as long!
